Father’s Parade in Austin Going Strong

For 10 years, FACE has partnered with River City Youth Foundation to host a citywide Father’s Parade & Fiesta in Austin. The goal of the event is to recognize the value of fathers and father role models in the schools, at home, and in the community. The annual Father’s Parade & Fiesta takes place a weekend before Father’s Day in southeast Austin’s Dove Springs, a community with the greatest educational and health challenges in the area. At the event, FACE conducts fun, engaging activities to teach dads how to bond with their kids and with other fathers in the community. The winners of a student father’s essay contest are also announced.

The Father’s Parade & Fiesta has had a significant impact on other communities over the years. Debuting as one of the first father parades in the country, the event continues to be the only event of its kind in Texas and one of a handful in the nation.

This year the 13th Annual Father’s Parade & Fiesta will take place on June 8.  River City Youth Foundation is celebrating 30 years as Austin’s longest-running native youth organization. See FACE in action at this  photo gallery highlighting the Father’s Parade & Fiesta through the years.
