A Growing Stage for Father Engagement

In 2012 FACE was invited to present or train at a number of prominent conferences and dialogs in Texas and nationally. Here are some of the highlights:

Mexican American School Board Association (MASBA)
FACE presented on the topic of the Role of Latino Fathers in the Creation of a College Going Culture

College Board Advocacy & Policy Center & Institute for Higher Education Policy
FACE opened a webinar panel discussion on “Young Men of Color, Charting a Pathway for Educational Success.” Panelists were from West Harlem, University of Oregon, De Anza College.

TEA Statewide Parental Involvement Conference
FACE trained a group of parent support specialists, parents and school representatives on how to use father involvement to meet the goals of college readiness.

National GEAR UP Conference – Washington / GEAR UP Statewide Conference – Austin
FACE and the FSLT presented on a variety of father/student college readiness strategies as partners in the GEAR UP STAR State grant in Texas.

Just confirmed: The College Board Policy and Advocacy Center has invited FACE to present in May 2013 at the Prepárate and Dream Deferred diversity conferences in Chicago. FACE and panelists from 3 universities will lead school leaders, counselors, higher education professionals, and community advocates in a dialogue on Strategies and Practices for Increasing Academic Achievement for Young Men of Color.
