Alphonso Rincón founded Fathers Active in Communities and Education (FACE) in 2003 with the mission to build communities of fathers to transform education and civic life.

FACE has taken the involvement of fathers to the level of systemic change at the campus, district and interdistrict levels, primarily through the models it has developed in South Texas through GEAR UP partnerships in collaboration with Title I programs in select school districts.

The long-term scope of FACE’s programs in one district led to its first districtwide (PK-12) father/student model in the Alice Independent School District.  From that “laboratory,” FACE is developing models in five surrounding school districts as well as a model that integrates the involvement of instructors and professors through the GEAR UP STAR’s Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi Faculty Fellows program.

Through its GEAR UP STAR Partnership FACE has recently blazed two new trails: a model for Father/Freshmen College Tours and a model for Father/Student Leadership Teams at the secondary level.
